Since 1975 we have been specialised in the negotiation of sales and acquisitions of works of art on behalf of private clients. We are active in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture dating from the Renaissance to Modern Art, with the exclusion of Contemporary Art.

The members of our team of art historians have all had experience of working on the art market before joining the bank.

Art, an alternative asset

Art is an interesting choice of asset diversification and should be viewed as a medium to long-term investment. The international art market has developed considerably over the last few years and prices for the best works continue to rise steadily. This trend is largely due to the combined factors of a growing number of potential buyers and a decline in the number of works of real quality available for sale. Such works are often acquired by museums and major collections and rarely reappear on the market.

Our independence in relation to the commercial art world allows us the freedom to make recommendations in a wholly objective manner. All choices are made on the grounds of quality and in accordance with the interests and tastes of each individual client.

Services

The art advisory team accompanies clients at each essential step on the road to the successful sale or purchase of an artwork. We follow the art market closely, monitoring its price levels and references, and we provide assistance with:

• Authenticity and provenance research
• Checking questions of attribution in consultation with recognised experts
• Valuations
• Technical analysis and condition reports
• Advice on specialised insurers, art-handlers, restoration and framing
• Tax planning information (in association with in-house tax planning specialists)
• Collection management, administration of loans to national and international exhibitions
• Personal visits to the most important international art fairs (eg: Maastricht , Basel , Paris Biennale)

Our minimum transaction levels (per art work) are set at 60 000 € in France and 150 000 € in wider Europe . A commission of between 10 and 2.5%, digressive according to value, is payable on transactions realised through the service.
